Monday’s Dump & Chase: Getting Into Gear

OTF will be moving to its new platform this week! I am currently under the impression that it won’t impact things for our readers and commenters, but I’ll verify that later today and have an update for you tomorrow.

And now, the links!

Summer Check-in: Roman Josi
We may be in the dog days of summer, but the Nashville Predators already have their sights set on the 2023-24 season.

Roman Josi saying his three-year-old son’s current favorite hobby is cleaning and doing yardwork is the kind of delight we all need more of.

Morrissey ’100 percent ready to go’ for Jets this season
Josh Morrissey said he is “100 percent” healthy and will be ready to go when the Winnipeg Jets open training camp next month.

Something about describing an injury obtained in the round of the playoffs the team was eliminated in as “season-ending” feels weird.

EWHL Players Form First PA; Statement Released
The European Women’s Hockey League Players Association announced its formation early Thursday afternoon.

The players of the European Women’s Hockey League have organized.

Ducks acquire defenceman Ilya Lyubushkin from Sabres for 2025 fourth-round pick
The Anaheim Ducks have acquired defenceman Ilya Lyubushkin from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round draft pick, the team announced Friday.

August trades! August trades!

Toews not retiring, will be ‘taking time away from the game’
Jonathan Toews said he is not retiring from the NHL and that he might not decide whether he’ll play again until late in the upcoming regular season at the earliest.

Well, good luck to him. I hope that this helps convince other players–especially the kids who grew up watching him–that it’s okay for them to take time to heal as well, if they need it.

Sharks add Ryan Miller, Thomas Vanek to hockey operations staff
The Sharks announced they have added five new members to their hockey operations staff, including two of Grier’s former teammates in Ryan Miller and Thomas Vanek.

The Sharks are collecting some former players, I see.

Swiss team HC Ladies Lugano return
In an unexplained twist, the HC Ladies Lugano have returned from the grave in a curious continuation of their saga.

The team folded back in the spring, but is back with a new sponsor; it’ll be interesting to see where this goes from here.

Terrance, Ducks prospect, plays lacrosse again for hometown team
Carey Terrance is on the path to a professional hockey career, but the Anaheim Ducks prospect couldn’t resist the itch to pick up a lacrosse stick again.

This kind of pursuit of multiple sports is unusual to see in a NHL prospect. I like it.
