The Nashville Predators have hired Dan Lambert as an assistant coach.
Lambert’s resume is impressive. He has coached the WHL Spokane Chiefs for the last two seasons. He has NHL coaching experience as a member of the Buffalo Sabres coaching staff. Further, he’s also coached for the AHL Rochester Americans and spent time behind the bench with the Kelowna Rockets. As a player, Lambert spent 29 NHL games with the Quebec Nordiques. Lambert coached Colton Sissons when he was a Kelowna Rocket from 2010-2013, and also coached Dante Fabbro in his U-17 season at the World Juniors. He will be heavily involved in repairing and retooling Nashville’s league-worst power play.
Spokane’s power play led the WHL last season with a 29.1% success rate, good for the sixth-highest record over the last ten years.
Predators GM David Poile said this in today’s press release: “Having enjoyed a lengthy career as a player and now a coach, he has had success at every level running the power play, and we look forward to adding his knowledge and insight in this area to the organization.”

This move was somewhat anticipated. Predators fans have been news-starved lately, and Lambert’s addition to the coaching staff is sure to lift the spirits of those who mourned the putrid power play of 2018-2019.
