Predators Sign North Dakota Forward Cole Smith to One Year, Two-Way Contract

The undrafted Fighting Hawks forward has been teammates with current prospect Grant Mismash for three seasons

Nashville Predators General Manager David Poile announced today that University of North Dakota senior forward Cole Smith has signed a one-year, two-way contract for the 2020-21 season.  The Fighting Hawks’ alternate captain posted a career-high 11 goals this season and finishes his senior campaign with 51 total points.  The 25-year-old forward has found success on the NCHC regular-season champion Fighting Hawks on special teams as well as at even strength.  Smith has been a teammate of 2017 Predators draft pick Grant Mismash for the last three years as well.

2019-20 Statistics:

  • 0.47 primary points per game played (goals and primary assists)
  • 16.2% shooting percentage
  • 57.1% even-strength goals for percentage (20 goals for, 15 goals against)
  • 3 power play goals, 1 shorthanded goal/
