This is the second recap I’ve written for a game that was just not that interesting sans the last 15-ish minutes. If it wasn’t for too much caffeine, I’m not sure there would have been a recap.

This is also the second game this season that’s gone to OT with New Jersey.
.@RealKyper reported tonight that P.K. Subban’s current injury isn’t related to the suspected back injury that forced him out two years ago.
“It’s a real conservative approach by Nashville to keep him out. They think a 50-plus (game) regular season for P.K. could benefit him.”

This is interesting. It seems it might still be a while before P.K. Subban returns. The Preds seem to be looking at this as though the regular season means absolutely nothing if your team is in shambles in the playoffs.

What a bizarre penalty. The NHL is right to say they don’t want refs calling this during a game as a penalty, because who on earth is going to keep track of which of their teammates’ sticks they can and can’t use in a situation if theirs breaks during a game?
I’m surprised this hasn’t come up before, but I won’t be surprised if we see someone get called for this again in the future.
