Hopefully the Preds’ playoff chances restore themselves with timing and thoroughness as perfect as Mark Stone’s spleen.
Amid boos, Stone leads Knights to win in return
Any questions about how Mark Stone would handle his first game in three months were quickly answered Monday night.
I’m glad he’s healthy again, and I don’t dispute he was injured in the first place, but this is not a great look for the team that insisted he couldn’t possibly play at all last week.
What is the total cap hit of Vegas’ Game 1 lineup vs. Dallas?
The Vegas Golden Knights will have Mark Stone back in the lineup for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, so how much would their lineup count for against the cap, if there was one? Rory Boylen takes a look.
Interestingly, though, the Golden Knights aren’t actually that far over the cap.
And before anyone asks who isn’t over the cap at least a little–
(That said, the Avs are over on Gabe Landeskog, who sure did not score a goal while being second among forwards on his team in ice time last night, so. They can probably throw some stones too.)
Georgiev aims to ‘stay positive’ for Avalanche heading into Game 2 of Western 1st Round | NHL.com
Goalie hopes to respond, help even series after allowing 7 in opener against Jets
I really don’t envy Georgiev, or Bednar.
As Canucks’ Joshua comes into his own, chemistry on third line just gets stronger
Vancouver’s third line was the most impactful one in Game 1, and it has the potential to be a massive influence on this first-round series.
Not ideal for the Preds.
‘No second guesses’: Bruins start Ullmark, drop G2
On the heels of a 3-2 loss that tied the series at 1-1, Boston coach Jim Montgomery stood behind his choice to start Linus Ullmark over Jeremy Swayman in Game 2 against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night at TD Garden.
I don’t think it’s necessarily the goalie switch’s fault, yeah?

Becomes 1st NHL player since 1998 to reach mark in playoff game with performance against Kings
Scary stuff (for the Oilers’ opponents) elsewhere in the Pacific.
Lindy hop: Sabres rehire Ruff after Devils exit
Over 10 years since his departure, Lindy Ruff is back in Buffalo as the Sabres coach. Ruff is the last coach to lead the team to the playoffs.
And the coaching carousel keeps turning…
Oilers’ Adam Henrique sets NHL record for longest span between playoff goals
Adam Henrqiue’s nearly 12 years between playoff goals set a new NHL record for the longest span between markers in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The previous record was held by Craig Ludwig (4,709 days).
It’s been 84 years… or 12, at least, which probably is 84 in hockey years.
Collapse in Carolina: Isles blow lead, lose Game 2
The Hurricanes shocked the Islanders on Monday night, scoring the game-tying and winning goals just nine seconds apart in the third period, giving them a 2-0 lead in this Round 1 series, a loss that New York captain Anders Lee said “hurts the gut.”
Carolina rocked the Islanders like a–yeah, I’ll see myself out.
Have a good day, y’all. See you tonight.
